Relationship between the patient state index and sedation scale during dexmedetomidine sedation during spinal anesthesia

چکیده

Background & Objectives: Dexmedetomidine, a highly selective α-2 adrenoceptor agonist, is widely used sedative during spinal anesthesia. Indices devised using processed electroencephalographic monitors are useful for identifying the level of sedation without disturbing patient. However, we lack studies on relationship between patient state index (PSI) and dexmedetomidine sedation. We investigated PSI scale in patients undergoing anesthesia.
Methodology: This study entailed review anesthetic records who underwent under SEDLine™ monitoring. After intrathecal injection, 1 µg/kg was injected intravenously over 10 min, followed by maintenance infusion at 0.4 µg/kg/h 50 min. The PSI, mean blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation were recorded regular intervals. patients’ ‘Observer’s Assessment Alertness/Sedation’ (OAA/S) scores measured repeatedly until deep (OAA/S ≤ 2) achieved. Spearman test to evaluate correlation value OAA/S score. cut-off 2 calculated receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.
 Results: values corresponding 5, 4, 3, 2, 86.56 ± 10.45, 76.90 13.99, 68.16 16.18, 61.48 15.26, 55.67 16.75, respectively (P < 0.001). coefficient 0.6228 76. pressure rate decreased significantly compared baseline 60 min after continuous 0.001).
Conclusion: with progression Patient assessment could prove evaluating depth distressing patients.

Optimal dose of dexmedetomidine for sedation during spinal anesthesia

BACKGROUND Sedation in spinal anesthesia can reduce patient's anxiety and discomfort. Dexmedetomidine has a sedative, hypnotic, analgesic, and minimal respiratory depression effect. However, use of the dexmedetomidine is associated with prolonged recovery. This study was designed to investigate the optimal dose of intravenous dexmedetomidine for proper sedation with minimal recovery time in spi...

Comparison of Intravenous Dexmedetomidine and Midazolam for Bispectral Index-Guided Sedation During Spinal Anesthesia

BACKGROUND Despite the high frequency of hypotension during spinal anesthesia with proper sedation, no previous report has compared the hemodynamic effects of dexmedetomidine and midazolam sedation during spinal anesthesia. We compared the effects of bispectral index (BIS)-guided intravenous sedation using midazolam or dexmedetomidine on hemodynamics and recovery profiles in patients who underw...

Dexmedetomidine combined with midazolam vs. dexmedetomidine alone for sedation during spinal anesthesia

BACKGROUND Dexmedetomidine is a useful sedative agent for spinal anesthesia. However, it has been reported that dexmedetomidine decreases heart rate in a dose-dependent manner. In the current study, we compared the administration of a bolus dose of midazolam and bolus loading of dexmedetomidine over 10 min with the goal of identifying an additional method of sedation. METHODS Ninety patients ...

[Dexmedetomidine/propofol association for plastic surgery sedation during local anesthesia.].

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Dexmedetomidine is a new alpha2-adrenergic receptor agonist with potentially useful characteristics for anesthesia. This comparative study aimed at evaluating the effects of dexmedetomidine on propofol requirements and cardiovascular/respiratory stability during plastic surgery sedation under local anesthesia. METHODS Participated in this study 40 female patients age...

Effects of dexmedetomidine infusion during spinal anesthesia on hemodynamics and sedation

BACKGROUND We evaluated the effects of intravenous dexmedetomidine during spinal anesthesia on hemodynamics, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, sedpain, and compared them with those of saline infusion. Sixty American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I and II cases were randomly divided into two groups. Patients were connected to the monitor after premedication, and spinal anesthes...
